Biography, Gokulam magazine, 1995
When Padma was young, she watned to become an astronaut, an author, and a deep-sea-diver. Her interest in writing and the underwater world has remained. She studied at The School KFI, in Madras. After finishing her B. Sc. in Chemistry and Environmental Science in Bangalore, she did her Master's degree in Marine Environmental Science in the U.S.A. Last summer, she spent the last of her earnings back-packing in Europe, where she visited the places in her series "Balaji and the black bicycle." Then, she returned to India and worked in the Andamans. At present, Padma is doing her Ph.D. Her articles and poems have appeared in Indian, British, and American journals. A short collection of poems has also been published. As for the future, Padma plans to continue writing for children and adults, while working as a marine environmental chemist.
